Guided tour of the new Bridlington Leisure Centre

Several hundred people visited the site of the new East Riding Leisure Bridlington on Saturday 3 October to see progress, and enjoy a guided tour of the facilities under construction.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and contractors Bam Construction Ltd hosted the event , and the council’s principal project manager, Adam Holmes, said: “We were delighted to welcome somewhere between 700 and 1000 people on to the site, and I know that everybody who came along was amazed and impressed by just how much progress there has been, with the site of the new swimming pools proving especially popular. We will continue to keep residents and visitors informed of how things are progressing on a regular basis.”

 

  • The new facility is scheduled to open in summer 2016, and will include:
  • 25m six lane swimming pool, max depth 2m
  • 13x7m learner pool with moveable floor – operating to a maximum depth of 2m
  • Splash Zone – Freeform pool to include waterplay features and two fun slides connected to the learner pool
  • Swimming spectator seating for 150
  • Village style wet changing facilities at pool level
  • Health Suite – Steam room, Sauna, Jacuzzi
  • 70 Station Fitness Suite
  • Exercise studio
  • Spinning studio
  • Six court sports hall – Specified to Sport England Club leve
  • Two squash courts
  • Dry sports and separate members changing areas
  • A feature climbing wall – located within central ‘Street’
  • Spaces suitable for clubroom, dance classes, yoga, children’s parties
  • Cafe/ Coffee shop – Open access to non-centre users with external seating and views over the bay
  • Health and wellbeing consulting space
  • Third party retail units
  • Additional parking provision on the site and much easier drop off and pick up
