Saturday was another fantastic day at Driffield Rugby Club with a record number of ladies in attendance for ladies day. Not only was the crowd blinded by the beauty of the lovely ladies of Driffield but also by the unbelievable winning score for Driffield 1st XV 84 v Westoe 19.
A fantastic effort all round and particular thanks to Yvonne Watt for raising over £300 on the raffle and to C&P Event Management for transforming the room in to a place fit for princesses. The day also marked the last weekend of Karen Clark’s duties as clubhouse manager.
Chairman Andrew Chapman said: “Karen stepped into the role at short notice two years ago and set about in her typical fashion of sorting out the administration and day to day running of the club. “Many months of collating figures and costings followed and the result is a much slimmed down, leaner, meaner and profitable club.
“Karen was first persuaded to get involved by Andrew Kitching and what a great appointment this turned out to be. “There isn’t many administrative roles that Karen hasn’t been involved in through the mini juniors right up to the club secretary’s job, which she held for 5 years.
“Her thoroughness and efficiency in jobs that few would relish have, especially, enabled our young Woldsmen to enjoy their sport in a fun but safe environment and the club from top to bottom owe her a massive thank you.”
Taking over from Karen is Helen Sunderland. Andrew added: “We wish Helen all the very best in her new role.”
