21-year-old Daniel James Butler of Trentham Close, Bridlington was sentenced to eight months in prison after making a hoax bomb threat to a Tesco store in Bridlington on Wednesday 3 February.
He was sentenced having previously pleaded guilty at Beverley Magistrates Court on Monday 4 February.
Detective Sergeant Tom Napier said: “Hoax bomb threats are taken very seriously by the force. They not only cause fear and alarm to those targeted, but also result in police resource needing to be diverted away from other calls for service and cause disruption to the wider community. I hope the eight month prison sentence handed out today will make other think twice before making a similar malicious reports.”
