Sally McNaughton has qualified for the SEIB Trailblazers National Championships aboard two horses.
Sally has competed at every Trailblazers Championship except one since the inaugural competition in 2001. Since then, she has won three times. This year, she is bringing her reigning champion, Gunner, and her new horse, Ashanti.
“Trailblazers offers a prestigious championship show for unaffiliated riders,” said Sally.
“It is professionally run with testing courses, and a great Championship atmosphere. “The facilities at Stoneleigh Park are fantastic – the Championship Arena was resurfaced recently and is superb to ride on. Gunner loved it so much last year, he did a massive squeal and jump into the arena through the walls at the entrance!”
This year, Gunner qualified for two Championships finals at the early second rounds at Speetley.
Sally then took on another horse – Ashanti – and quickly qualified the mare for the Championships, despite having only ridden her twice. “I have been focusing on getting the horses ready for the Championship show in August, which we’re very much looking forward to,” says a delighted Sally, who works as a Specialist Nurse and fits the horses in around her job. “The show is always good fun, and has become our summer holiday.”
The SEIB Trailblazers Championships are a seven-day equestrian extravaganza with on-site camping, stabling, flags and flowers.
It provides riders at grassroots level with the opportunity to experience a Championship atmosphere, the thrill of riding in the grand arenas and the prospect of completing a lap of honour in magnificent style.
Sally will be competing at the finals which take place 29 July – 6 August at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
