Driffield: Police would like to speak to any witnesses to the collision

Officers are re-appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A614 Driffield by pass around a mile and a half from Kellythorpe which is believed to have occurred between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday 13 August.

Police were called at 8.20am on Sunday 14 August with reports that a silver coloured Ford B-Max Zetec had left the road and overturned before coming to a stop in a field.

The front seat passenger – an 83-year-old woman – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver – a 81-year-old man – suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and is receiving treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Following police enquiries it is believed the collision happened at some point between 4pm and 5pm.

Prior to the collision the couple were travelling to an address in the Driffield area when the car left the road.

When they failed to arrive at the address family grew concerned and began making numerous enquiries into their whereabouts, including a call to the police at 8.26pm inquiring about any collisions that may have been reported in the area that afternoon.

However, concern for the couple continued to grow and they were reported missing at 12.34am on Sunday 14 August leading to police searches in the area including the use of the police helicopter.

We are appealing to anyone who saw a silver coloured Ford B Max in the area of the A614 Driffield By Pass between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday 13 August are requested to contact the Humberside Police on 101 quoting log 190 of 14/08/16.
