Witnesses are being sought to the single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that happened shortly after 1pm on the A166 in East Yorkshire yesterday (Monday September 19).
A Citroen C3 in blue was travelling west on the A166 – between the bottom of Garrowby Hill and the Full Sutton junction – when it appears to have lost control, going off the road, into a ditch and then striking a tree.
The front seat passenger of the car, a 72-year-old man from Leeds, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver of the car, also from Leeds, sustained head and neck injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary along with the rear seat passenger, a 22-year-old Leeds woman, who sustained fractures to the arm.
Humberside Fire & Rescue, Police, Ambulance, Helimed, Local Authority attended the scene and the road was closed for some time to allow recovery of the vehicle and examination of the scene. It re-opened at approximately 6.45pm.
