Road closures ahead as overnight roadworks continue on the Driffield Bypass

The B1249 and Scarborough Road at the roundabout will be closed overnight between 7pm and 6am.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]East Riding of Yorkshire Council is reminding motorists that the next phase of the major improvements on the A614 between Kelleythorpe and Nafferton starts next Monday (31 October, 2016) and will last for seven nights.

This section of the works involves the roundabout at the junction of the A614 and B1249. The roundabout and approach roads will be resurfaced with a skid resistant, low noise material.

To minimise disruption to road users, the works will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 6am. The B1249 and Scarborough Road at the roundabout will be closed overnight between 7pm and 6am.

Diversion routes will be signposted from Octon through Sledmere and Garton on the Wolds. Access to the A614 from the Driffield side will be from the York Road roundabout.

The roundabout itself will remain open for through traffic on the A614 in both directions, controlled by temporary traffic signals.

The scheme is being carried out on behalf of the council by Cemex Paving Solutions Ltd.

This will the final stage of the road improvements requiring any road closures, and the whole scheme of improvements along the A614 is scheduled to be completed by 14 November (weather permitting).

The A614 road improvement scheme is the second to be funded following the council’s successful £16.7 million bid through the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund to the Department for Transport.

This extra funding will be used on a programme of works to improve the condition of ‘A’ roads in the East Riding over the next five years.

Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities at the council, said: “We apologise in advance for any delays or disruption this scheme will cause, but these are necessary improvements to a very busy stretch of road.

“Our contractors will be carrying out the majority of the work overnight to try to minimise the inconvenience to motorists.

“When it is complete road users will see an improvement as the new surface is designed to be quieter and improve tyre grip.

“We would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gmaps link=”#E-8_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”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
