Throughout both days, there will be an action-packed programme of activities and entertainment which will continue into the evening at the Real Ale and Cider Festival which will once again run alongside the Fair.
This year, there is also the added bonus of the Tour de Yorkshire peloton riding past the Showground on Friday 28th April and organisers are confident that this, as well as all the other activities and attractions, will entice people of all ages.
The weekend will be jam-packed full of live arena entertainment with the Activity Arena featuring Elaine Hill’s Sheepdog Display Team, the Hunsley Beacon Beagles and the Ridgeside Lurchers.
The Festival Lawn will be the home of children’s entertainment across the two days which will include performances from popular entertainer Magic Mike, Mini Mansell’s Circus Workshop and Punch and Judy as well as face painting. 2017 also sees the return of the Working Gun Dog Trials, courtesy of Kirkbourne Spaniels.
A new addition to the schedule is The National Terrier and Lurcher Racing Club who will performing at the Showground for the first time as they host the national qualifiers for the NL&RC Championships which will be held at Chatsworth House in September.
The Ryedale Rescue Fun Dog Show, which this year is sponsored by Jacko’s Fluff Yer Pups Professional Dog Grooming Service, will be running on both days and is open to all ages with categories including best trick and fancy dress with prizes for the winners.
For those who wish to get hands on with nature, Joe’s Mobile Exotic Zoo and the Purple Pig Company will be at the Showground where visitors will be able to get up close and personal with corn snakes, hedgehogs, giant land snails, a 12-foot Burmese python along with an assortment of farmyard animals.
The Purple Pig Company is a mobile petting farm that works closely with FACE (Farming and Countryside Education) to provide fun and education using friendly animals.
Those at the Country Fair will be able to stroke the animals and feeding times and petting sessions are scheduled throughout the weekend.
Once again, the East Riding Country Fair will feature a weekend of In Hand, Ridden & Fun Showing which will hosted by Patrington Mill Show & Livery Yard.
This kicks-off on Saturday at 10am with 50 in-hand classes, 17 Championships and an Overall Supreme Championship. The show will conclude on Sunday with 45 Ridden Classes, 14 Championships and an Overall Supreme Championship.
Places on both days will be awarded up to sixth position with rosettes for every competitor and both Supreme winners will receive a cash sum of £50. Entries will be taken in advance and during the weekend.
Back by popular demand for a third year is the Real Ale and Cider Festival run by the Yorkshire Brewing Company and the Butchers Dog.
There will be a selection of over 30 local ales and ciders, most of which are sourced from microbreweries from across Yorkshire. In addition, there will a range of wines, sparkling wines, spirits and soft drinks for everyone to enjoy.
Live music will take place in the Festival Bar across three days, starting on Friday 28th with performances from Katie Spencer and Chris Martin whilst Saturday will see the return of Liam Mangan and Drive My Car.
The music concludes on Sunday with Blues Day Singer Chris Martin will be entertaining.
which will include sets from Dog Finger Steve, Soft Shoe Sam, Chicago Bound, Chequered Past, Juke Joint Kings and Chord on Blues. As well as the performances, guitar workshops will also be available on Sunday within the festival bar.
There will also be the opportunity to browse over 100 stalls or grab a bite to eat from one of the on-site caterers.
As well as lots of paid-for activities including go karting, crazy golf, funfair, Paulo’s Circus, archery and bubble football, a number of activities will be free of charge for visitors. These include: Classic American car displays, an inflatable assault course, bouncy castles and slides, a World War Two demonstration area, a climbing wall, a human demolition zone, Wolds and Coast Scouts, Water Walkerz, an inflatable pirate ship, birds of prey and Creation Station kid’s crafts.
With activities taking places throughout the day and into the evening plus the Tour de Yorkshire pedalling past the Showground, you can make the most of your visit to the East Riding Country Fair by purchasing a Weekend Caravan or Camping Pass.
Camping will be available from Friday 28th April, allowing visitors to arrive nice and early in time for the cyclists who will be riding past just after lunchtime.
Caravan and camping is priced at £10 per adult per stay with shower and toilet facilities available.
