The Driffield Agricultural Society presented the prestigious RH Mountifield Award to Robert Rook from Market Weighton for his outstanding contribution to agriculture.

Mr Rook, from Weighton Wold Farm, received the award from Driffield Agricultural President Chris Richardson and Chairman Tim Burdass at the Rix Pavilion at Driffield Showground.

After taking over the running of the family farm in his early 20s, Mr Rook successfully introduced and established the beef Stabiliser breed to his farm.

He served for many years on the board of governors of Bishop Burton College and sat on the board of BATA.

Mr Rook has also helped younger members of the farming community through his involvement with the Market Weighton Young Farmers Club and has been part of an initiative with a major bank to get young people into agriculture.
