National Rail have confirmed that the lines have reopened, however disruption is expected until 5:30pm this evening.
British Transport Police has confirmed that a person has sadly died after they were struck by a train at Driffield railway station.
Officers from British Transport Police were called at 3pm this afternoon (Thursday 20th April) and attended the scene alongside paramedics.
Work is now underway to identify the person and inform their family.
This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A replacement bus service is currently being arranged by Northern Rail.
Driffield railway station is currently closed as the emergency services deal with a serious incident on the line between Hull and Bridlington.
The incident occurred at around 3pm today (Thursday 20th April 2017) and Network Rail staff are on site with British Transport Police, Humberside Police, Humberside Fire and Rescue and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
The incident is currently causing disruption to trains between these two stations and trains have been amended, cancelled or delayed.
Disruption is expected to continue until the early evening.
