Two drivers seriously injured in head-on crash at Seamer

Police in North Yorkshire are investigating a serious collision in the village of Seamer.

The incident happened on the B1261 Main Street at Seamer – near Chew Lane and between the A64 – at around 3.15pm on Saturday (24 June 2017).

A woman aged in her 60s, driving a light-coloured Kia Picanto, suffered serious injuries.

The driver of a blue Citroen C5, a man aged in his 60s, was taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment to abdominal injuries.

The Citroen was heading south towards Staxton when the head-on collision occurred with the Kia,  which was travelling in the opposite direction.

A full road closure was put on at the collision scene with local diversion in place. This allowed the emergency services to operate safely and for the police to carry out a detailed investigation.

The road re-opened just after 9pm.

Anyone who recalls seeing either the blue Citroen C5 or the light-coloured Kia Picanto prior to the incident or the incident itself, are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Neale Rees.
