Cyclist who died after Bessingby collision named as 18 Year-old Lewis Booth of Nafferton

Bridlington: Police appeal for witnesses

The cyclist who died in a collision on the A614 at Bessingby Gate on Sunday evening has been named as 18 Year-old Lewis Booth of Nafferton

Lewis, of Nafferton, near Driffield was involved in a collision with a blue Citroen Berlingo on Sunday evening and sadly died in hospital on Monday afternoon.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked to be left to grieve in peace.

 

Lewis sustained serious head injuries in the collision and was air-lifted by a Yorkshire Air Ambulance to The James Cook University Hospital at Middlesborough for treatment.  The driver of the Citroen was uninjured.

Police enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of the collision and Humberside police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, to call them on the non-emergency number 101 quoting log 498 of 16/07/17.
