Driffield gets set for ‘spectacular’ annual bonfire and fireworks display

Preparations are well underway for this year’s spectacular Driffield Bonfire and Firework display with thousands of people expected to attend.

Last year around 5,000 people attended the thrilling event at the Driffield Showground and it is hoped this year’s event will be another popular occasion for the whole family.

Once again, the Driffield & Wolds Weekly is throwing its full support behind the event by sponsoring the popular firework display, which is being staged by local firm The Fireworkers.

Organised by Driffield Town Council and Driffield Showground Events, the visual spectacular will take place on Saturday 3rd of November.

There will be a small fun fair for children, food outlets and a bar.

The event begins at 4:30pm and will finish at 9pm.

The bonfire will be lit at 7.00pm as usual with the firework display starting at 7.15pm.

Driffield Mayor Cllr Joyce Fletcher said: “We look forward to welcoming families to our fantastic bonfire event.

“We work hard to keep it affordable for all; it seems to get better every year and we are very proud that a small town like Driffield continues to provide one of the most spectacular displays in the region.”

Driffield Town Council will not be building the bonfire until the week of the event and security will be on site.

The event begins at 4:30pm and will finish at 9pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7.00pm as usual with the firework display starting at 7.15pm. Admission to the display remains the same as last year at £3 for adults and £1 for children up to the age of 16, with under 5s free.

Driffield Town Council already has sufficient wood for the fire.

Andy Stabler, from Driffield & Wolds Weekly, said: “We are delighted to team up with Driffield Town Council again to help promote one of the area’s biggest events of the year.
“We are looking forward to another fantastic evening and we are sure it will be well supported again by the people of Driffield and the surrounding villages.”

Admission to the display remains the same as last year at £3 for adults and £1 for children up to the age of 16, with under 5s free.

The organisers also ask that no personal fireworks or sparklers be brought onto the site. There is free parking available.
