THE STAGE IS SET! …. Latest pictures from the set up for tomorrow’s Driffield Agricultural Show

Organisers are hoping the fine weather holds as thousands are expected to attend tomorrow’s (Wednesday) 144th Driffield Show.

Since it was first held in 1854, the Driffield Show has offered visitors a vast spectrum of attractions and entertainment.
As well as the exceptional livestock section, which continues to attract some of the area’s finest cattle, sheep and pigs, visitors can look forward to browsing over 450 trade stands, and visiting the handicraft and horticulture marquees, fur and feather section and family dog show.

There will be a return of the popular Heavy Horse classes, and following the introduction of demonstrations last year, the public will once again have the opportunity to view the horses being decorated and groomed in preparation for the show ring throughout the day.

This year, as well as a packed schedule of equine talent, the main ring will also feature entertainment from Joseph’s Amazing Racing Camels, the first time camels have been present at the Driffield Show!

The Activity Arena also continues to grow and offers a wealth of family fun, entertainment and activities. This year there will be appearances from the Yorkshire Hoopers Dog Display Team, Yorkshire Bouncers Flyball Team, the Bridlington team of the RNLI, the ever popular ‘dancing dogs’ from the Tailwaggers Club, plus flying demonstrations from the Owl Adventures display team.

New for 2019 is the new Food Hall marquee creating a one stop show for all food products. The Food Hall will also be the home of the popular Food Theatre with its crammed timetable featuring local chefs and local producers.

Driffield Show set up

in the last few minutes, organisers of tomorrow’s Driffield Show have announced that pig section is cancelled due to an outbreak of swine dysentery in North Yorkshire.

In a Twitter post, Driffield Showground said the following: “As you may be aware there has recently been a case of swine dysentery confirmed in our local area.

“Following consultation with our society vets we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the pig section at this year’s Driffield Show.

This decision has not been taken lightly and we thank everyone concerned for their understanding.”

The largest one day agricultural show in England will take place on Wednesday 17th July 2019
