Lidl reopens in Driffield after major refurbishment

Around two months after closing for refurbishment, Driffield’s Lidl store reopened on 20th October, with customers arriving early to catch a first glimpse of the upgraded supermarket.

The Mill Street store closed its doors during late August to allow modernisation of the both the supermarket and the area surrounding it, including the car park.

Loyal Lidl customers have been travelling to Bridlington and Beverley, with staff from the Driffield store being reassigned to nearby stores whilst the work was undertaken.

However, shortly after the mayor of Driffield, Cllr Mark Blakeston, cut the ribbon, shoppers flocked into the store in their droves.

As part of the refurbishment, the Driffield store has a new entrance and larger sales area, offering an ‘enhanced in-store experience and access to an even greater range of Lidl’s much-loved produce’, according to the German supermarket giant.

The mayor and his wife Sarah with staff members Chris Dowson, Rosena Height, store manager Michael Dibble, Robert Lindsay and Angey Shaw.

Customer toilets and baby changing facilities have been installed and the updated car park now includes a new rapid electric vehicle charger and additional parent and child car parking spaces.

The Lidl store in Driffield now has new opening hours too – 8am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
