Annabel wins place in Eco Pageant

A Driffield woman has been accepted as a candidate in one of the UK’s fastest growing pageants which aims to highlight the need to protect the environment and showcase social causes, whilst being 100 per cent glamorous.

Annabel Page, 33, has been selected in the Ms Earth category of the Eco Pageants UK Grand Final, which is to take place on 4th and 5th August at Hilton East Midlands Airport hotel, near Derby.

As well as being in the running to win a package of prizes and a full year of activities, Annabel will also be raising money for Daisy Chain, a County Durham-based charity that supports people with autism and other neurodivergent conditions and their families.

Annabel’s fundraising will start with a fundraiser in May, which will see her walk 60 miles – two miles a day – during the month, whilst she will also be launching a Miss Spring Queen photograph opportunity on her Instagram and Facebook pages.

Over the weekend of the pageant, the mum-of-two will be highlighting her chosen advocacy, Water Wellness – Rehydrate the Planet during a series of interviews, workshops and photoshoots.

This will conclude with the grand finale on the Saturday.

Having taken part in two pageants previously, Annabel told the Wolds Weekly the experience had left her feeling empowered and ready to make a difference to the world around her.

“A pageant today is nothing like the perception that some people have of them,” she said.

“They are glamorous events and there is lots of work involved. For the Eco Pageant, I’ll be making lots of appearances at various events, the local foodbank and hospitals, as well as in the media.

“I learned that I had earned a place in the pageant at the start of the year and it’s the third one I have taken part in.

“In 2022, I entered the Miss UK Crown Charity Pageant and a Royal UK Pageant. As well as making you feel great, the pageants are also a fantastic way of meeting new friends and the organisers treat you like royalty.

“The pageant is also important as a way of raising funds and awareness of my charity.

“Daisy Chain is a brilliant charity that supports adults and young people who have conditions such as autism, and their families by organising activities such as trips to farms.

“I am really looking forward to it and my husband will be coming along to offer support across the weekend.”

Annabel is being sponsored by The Van Man.
