HOUSEHOLD WASTE RECYCLING SITE IN POCKLINGTON TO CLOSE FROM SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER FOR IMPROVEMENTS

The household waste recycling site at Pocklington is to be closed for eleven weeks from September for essential improvements.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is temporarily closing the site, in Pocklington Lane, Burnby, from Monday 23rd September to allow for the installation of a new drainage system.

It is scheduled to reopen on Saturday 7 December.

During the closure, residents are asked to take their recycling and waste to their nearest alternative household waste recycling site at Holme-On-Spalding-Moor or Market Weighton, around seven miles away, or use any other local household waste recycling site.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Unfortunately the closure of this site is unavoidable.

“We understand this will cause an inconvenience for local residents, but I want to thank them for bearing with us while this work is carried out.

“When the work is complete, residents won’t notice any difference on site, but it is essential that we upgrade the drainage.”
