ANNUAL BRIDLINGTON BEACH 5K AND FUN RUN TO TAKE PLACE THIS SUNDAY

Bridlington South Beach welcomes back the 5K and Fun Run this Sunday (15th September).

Registration will be starting at 9:30am for both races. The registration point is a branded gazebo and can be found on Bridlington South Beach Promenade, between the lifeboat slipway and the RNLI station.

The 1K fun run will start at 10am on Bridlington South Beach and the 5K race will start at 10:30am at the same location.

Competitors will run south from an area of beach near the lifeboat slipway and finish back in the area in front of Richie’s Café.

Spectators will be able to watch from the beach or from the promenade area. There are trophies up for grabs for the first place male and female in both races.

Coastal Services encourage fancy dress for participants as the race is taking place at the same time as the Comicon event at Bridlington Spa.

There will also be a prize awarded for best fancy dress. The event can accept runners entering on the day, however, there are a limited amount of race numbers available.

Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said: “Not only is this an extremely fun event which we are happy to see the return of, it’s a great way for people to put their fitness to the test on the glorious Bridlington south beach.

“Good luck to all the runners taking part and hopefully we will see a variety of fancy-dress costumes.”

Chargeable parking is available on-street, within the local area and at Bridlington Park and Ride.
