Rescheduled Farmer Christmas Tractor Run takes place this Sunday

Final preparations are under way for this weekend’s rescheduled Farmer Christmas Tractor Run which will see a fantastic 150 decorated tractors light up the night sky as they make their way through a series of Wolds villages for a spectacular not to be missed.

The event was due to take place last Sunday but organisers had to take the difficult decision to postpone the run due to Storm Darragh.

Last year’s event raised an incredible £12,632.12 for both the KPFA and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), and this year promises to be even bigger and better.

The Farmer Christmas Tractor Run, organised by Kilham Playing Field Association (KPFA),will take place this Sunday (15th December).

Tractors, decorated with Christmas lights and other festive decorations, will set off from Wilfred Scruton Ltd in Foxholes at 3.30pm before making their way along the route which includes Wold Newton, Hunmanby, Burton Fleming, Rudston, Kilham, Langtoft and finishing on the field at Foxholes Community Hall.

There will be a chance to view the tractors and enjoy Christmas activities and refreshments at Foxholes Community Hall from 1.30pm.

Santa will make a special visit in his grotto, courtesy of The North Wolds Lions, and there will be hot drinks, mulled wine and hot chocolate provided by the Foxholes Community Hall and KPFA volunteers.

Bite into British supported by Pockmor and Anna’s Happy Kitchen will also be serving hot pork sandwiches Spectators are encouraged to watch the tractors at the start and along the route as there will be no public access to the hall at the end.

There will be a tracker in the lead vehicle for up-to-date information about the progress of the tractors on the evening which will be available on the Farmer Christmas Tractor Run Facebook page.KPFA requests that anyone watching along the route park on adjacent streets to keep theroute as clear as possible.

Nicola Knaggs, secretary of the KPFA and event coordinator, said: “In 2023, the event brought such an amazing turn out of public support along the route and brought our total raised by the event over the three years, to almost £24,000, for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“We have over 150 tractors committed to attend to date and already we are hearing of drivers going all out, on their light up purchases, to be even brighter than last year.

“We would love for people to come and join us, for a joyful festive treat for the family and show their appreciation by donating to a truly essential rural service.

“There will be an army of almost 100 volunteers marshalling and collecting, with QR codes for those who don’t carry cash, so please show your appreciation for their commitment in making sure everyone has a safe enjoyable event, which hopefully raises lots of money fort he Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“Money raised for the KPFA will support our 2025 plans to upgrade access in and around the field and improve our picnic facilities.

  • Finishing at Foxholes
