Cranswick Farm Shop celebrates 35 years of great value and excellent service

Providing good quality fresh produce, supporting local farmers and producers, whilst offering great value for money and excellent customer service, the Farm Shop at Cranswick is celebrating 35 successful years in business.
Launched in December 1989 by Christine and Adrian Fry as an outlet to sell their milk, the business has grown and evolved over the years and is now a go-to destination for people looking for freshly prepared home cooked food and locally sourced quality fresh produce.
Having recently welcomed the third generation of the family to the business; the Farm Shop prides itself on its family values and passion for providing the best possible service to meet its customers’ needs.

From its humble beginnings as the Manor Farm Shop on Beverley Road, the shop was extended in 2008 to double its size.
Building on the success of the original shop, a new purpose-built farm shop and spacious cafe opened in 2016 and has grown in popularity since.
Owners Helen Stones and her daughter Milly said they are proud of what they and their talented team of staff have achieved over the years and thanked their loyal customers for their ongoing support.
Helen said: “My parents Christine and Adrian Fry opened the first shop in 1989 to provide an outlet to sell our milk which we pasteurised and bottled.
“We also offered other locally sourced produce such as baked goods from Laveracks Butchers in Holme upon Spalding Moor, Ireland’s potatoes and Brymor ice cream – which we still offer today.
“As demand for locally sourced, quality produce grew so did the shop. It soon became evident that our original shop was too small, and in 2008 we doubled the size of our first shop.

“However, from the beginning we have always wanted to add a café to the shop and we were delighted to open our current premises in 2016 which provides an enhanced shopping experience for our customers and a warm and welcoming cafe area.
“Over the years we have had fantastic support from our loyal customers who come back to us week after week and we are very grateful to them.
“Some of our customers have been coming here since we first launched in 1989.
“We are also very lucky to have such a dedicated team of staff who know our customers and pride themselves in delivering excellent customer service.”
Milly joined the business in July 2024 and has ambitions to see the venture become a ‘destination’ for visitors.
“The cafe is a great place where people can come and relax and enjoy a meal with family and friends,” she said.
“We would like to make it even more family friendly, and we have some ideas we are working through to appeal to the whole family.
“Our customers value the quality of the produce in our shop and the traceability of products, especially our meat, is a priority for us.
“Going forward we will keep looking for new products to meet the changing needs of our customers and continue doing what we do even better.”
