Post Office service to return to North Frodingham

A Post Office service will return to North Frodingham this week for the first time in nearly four years.

An outreach service will be situated in the social centre on South Townside Road from 12-1:30pm every Wednesday, starting on 13th April.

The facility is provided by Sally Atkinson, postmaster at Hunmanby Post Office, who will offer services such as posting parcels for both Royal Mail and Parcelforce, cash withdrawals and deposits, cheque deposits, bill payments and vehicle tax.

A Post Office service back in North Frodingham is great news and it will be of massive benefit to lots of people.

North Frodingham has been without a post office since May 2018 when the shop on Main Street closed.
Sophie Watson, North Frodingham Parish Councillor and Social Centre committee member, said it will be of great benefit to many in the village.

She told the Wolds Weekly: “A Post Office service back in North Frodingham is great news and it will be of massive benefit to lots of people.

“We have a fairly ageing population in the village, so for many it has been a struggle to use post office facilities since the shop closed in 2018.

“Those without access to cars or the internet have had to rely on getting a lift with others or the infrequent bus service to either Beeford or Driffield.

“As well as better facilities, it will give people the chance to have a chat and meet other people once a week as well.

“Thankfully, the Post Office had funding to support this outreach and we are delighted that Sally was able to fit North Frodingham into her schedule.”

Sally already provides outreach Post Offices to Burton Fleming, Barmston and Rudston and was happy to add North Frodingham to her route.

“I visit Barmston on a Wednesday afternoon anyway having been to Burton Fleming, so I was happy to tie in a trip to North Frodingham with that,” she said.

“The Post Office is aiming to open outreaches in all villages over a certain population and North Frodingham falls into that criterion.

“Not only is it a vital facility for a village, but it can also bring the community together, such as in Rudston.

“When I visit Rudston on a Thursday, it ties in with a coffee morning and a parent and toddler group all in the village hall, so there is a buzz about the place.

“I have been postmaster at Hunmanby for nearly eight years and offering outreach services for the last four.”

Outreach Post Offices from Hunmanby will be in Burton Fleming village shop from 9-11am every Wednesday, 12-1:30pm at North Frodingham Social Centre and at Barmston & Fraisthorpe Village Hall from 2-4pm.

The Rudston service will be in place from 10am to 12 noon in the village hall every Thursday.
