REPORTS – SPANISH WOMEN’S WORLD CUP WINNING MANAGER SACKED

Reports this afternoon suggest that Jorge Vilda, Spain’s Women’s World Cup winning manager, has been sacked as the controversy over Luis Rubiales’ kiss during the medal ceremony continues.

Vilda was at the helm as Spain defeated England in the final but has since come under pressure after applauding a speech delivered by the Spanish FA president who kissed player Jenni Hermoso on the lips after the victory.

However, last weekend, Vilda released a statement criticising Rubiales, but he did not call for the president’s resignation or sacking.
