FORMER AMERICAN FOOTBALLER O.J. SIMPSON HAS DIED AT THE AGE OF 76

Former American footballer O.J. Simpson has died at the age of 76.

In a statement on X, Simpson’s family said: “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

In October 1995, Simpson was tried for murder but was found not guilty of murdering two people.

Simpson, who was a running back in the NFL for Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers, was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

He was the first running back to gain 2,000 yards during the 1973 season. Simpson went on to become a commentator and actor.

In 2007, he was arrested and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping. He was convicted the year after and sentenced to 33 years in prison, with a minimum of nine years without parole.

He was granted parole in 2017 and later released.
