Scotland to reintroduce winter fuel payment to all pensioners next year
The Scottish government has announced all pensioners in Scotland will receive winter fuel payments next year.
If passed, the heating payment will benefit 900,000 Scottish citizens. The UK and Scottish government axed the universal winter fuel payment earlier this year, except for people who received pension credit or other means-tested benefits.
The Chancellor Rachel Reeves said the decision to withdraw the payment was due to financial pressures Labour had inherited from the previous Conservative government.
