Hull City manager hopes for positive news on John Egan vision problem

Hull City boss Ruben Selles recently shed light on the unexpected exit of experienced Irish player John Egan from Monday’s thrilling EFL Championship 1-1 draw with Coventry City on hesgoal.
The sudden departure of Egan, who complained of blurred vision in the second half, has left fans and teammates alike concerned and hoping for a positive prognosis.
Egan was replaced by Alfie Jones just 13 minutes from time. This switch came as a surprise to many since it was Egan who had himself replaced Jones in the starting line-up for the match against the Sky Blues.
The former Sheffield United promotion-winning skipper has been an impressive addition to Hull City’s side. His potential absence could be a significant blow to the team.
Hull City manager, Ruben Selles, explained: “John started to apparently detect something, some problem in there with his vision during the second half.”
This issue led to an interruption in play as medical attention was sought for the defender.
In addressing concerns about whether this incident might be concussion-related – which would subject Egan to stringent protocols – Selles clarified that it wasn’t. He stated that while “it doesn’t look serious right now,” they are treating it as if it is serious until further notice.
The coach also confirmed that at present, “he’s with the doctor.”
This statement suggests that further evaluations are being conducted on Egan’s condition before any definitive conclusions can be drawn or announced.
Despite this setback, Selles remains hopeful about having John Egan available for Friday’s trip to Swansea City. His optimism stems from initial assessments indicating no severe injury or concussion-related issues.
The game itself ended on a high note despite Charlie Hughes’s unfortunate own goal at the start of the second half. Abu Kamara managed an equalising goal late into play, allowing Hull City to snatch a draw.
The unexpected exit of John Egan from Monday’s game has left many questions in the air. However, with Selles’ reassurances and the hope for a positive prognosis, fans are eagerly awaiting news on Egan’s condition and his potential return to the field. The team’s resilience in securing a draw despite this setback also bodes well for their upcoming games.
