Driffield RUFC host Scunthorpe RUFC at Kelleythorpe this Saturday (10th October) with the Woldsmen in need of a win after starting their campaign with two defeats on the bounce.
Driffield started their Regional 1 (North East) campaign away to Alnwick, but lost 44-19. They were back at home to Blaydon last weekend and were able to grab their bonus try point, but weren’t able to collect the full five points, as they lost 31-43.

Scunthorpe have had a mixed start to the season, opening their campaign at home to Hull RUFC, and they were able to claim the five points by beating them 38-24, but then suffered a heavy defeat, 57-19 against Ilkley.
This fixture will be the first time in over three years that the two sides have faced each other at Kelleythorpe in the same league, and Driffield back then ran out 30-20 victors thanks to a brace of tries from winger Alex Rowbottom.
Driffield RUFC 2nd XV will look to earn their second victory of their Counties 2 Yorkshire campaign this Saturday on the road to Leodensian, on the back of a disappointing defeat to Hull Ionians Buccaneers.
Leodensian are one of three sides who have made a perfect start to their 2026/27 Counties 2 Yorkshire campaign,. They started it on the road against Malton & Norton 2nd XV where they comfortably beat them 7-50, then scraped past Ilkley Barbarians 31-24.
Driffield started their campaign confidently with a 69-20 victory over Northallerton at Kelleythorpe, but were defeated last week, 41-13 by the Buccaneers.
The third team are on the road to Withernsea on the back of a 36-21 defeat to BP Chemicals and the fourth team will look to keep their perfect start to the 2026/27 East Yorkshire Merit League in tact as they travel to Hornsea to take on the hosts’ second team.
Driffield Women are looking to claim their first Women’s Championship North win when they welcome table toppers Buckingham Swans. The Woldswomen’s first home game saw them edged out 24-31 by Lichfield Ladies.
