Bridlington RNLI Lifeboat Station unveil banner in support of NHS

Crew and volunteers at Bridlington RNLI are showing their support to NHS staff and key workers with a banner at the Lifeboat Station.

The RNLI’s mascot Stormy Stan unveiled the banner whilst on his daily exercise from the boathouse. The banner, which thanks all NHS staff and key workers, was installed this week by Fundraising Chair Bob Taylor, as he was out delivering prescriptions to local residents.

Bridlington Lifeboat Station Chairman, Dave Garnett explained why the banner was erected: ‘We’re hugely grateful to our NHS staff and key workers and we wanted to show our appreciation with a banner close to the boathouse.’

Whilst all non-essential training at Bridlington has been postponed in response to the coronavirus, the lifeboat crew are still ready to respond to any emergency shouts. The RNLI is asking people who are exercising on the beach to take care whilst walking near cliffs, and if anyone does spot a person in difficulty to call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
