Great Driffield AFC got life off to the perfect start when playing its first ever match.

Curtis Woodhouse’s men took to the field against Burlington FC at Rotsea Lane in Hutton Cranswick and ran out comfortable 7-2 winners.

Lewis Kilner went down in history as the new club’s first ever goalscorer as Driffield were 4-0 up at the break and continued their dominance in the second half.

Star of the show was striker Jonny Blakeston who netted a hat-trick, whilst Kilner bagged a brace and other goals came courtesy of Sam Pallant and Sam Dixon.

After the game, Woodhouse said: “For our first game together, I thought we were outstanding.

“For 60 minutes we looked like a really good team considering we’ve only had four or five sessions together and at times we passed them to death.

“I was pleased with how we pressed and won the ball back and it was good to see some of the patterns we’ve worked on in training put into practice.”
