VOTE: Do you support the teachers’ strike?

Teachers who are members of the National Education Union (NEU) across England are to go on strike over pay on seven dates in February and March.

National strikes will take place on Wednesday 1st February and Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March. There are regional dates too, with teachers in Yorkshire and the Humber striking on Tuesday 28th February.

Do you support the teachers' strike planned for February and March 2023?

The NEU is the largest education union in the UK and balloted around 300,000 teachers and support staff.

Following the call for strike action, headteachers must now try and keep schools open for as many pupils as possible.

Schools should only be affected by a maximum of four out of the seven dates, according to the NEU.

The majority of state school teachers in England were given a 5% wage rise in 2022.

However, the NEU argues this is a pay cut, due to the current levels of inflation.

Nine out of 10 members of the NEU voted for strike action and the union passed the 50% ballot turnout required by law to take industrial action.
