Driffield Striders celebrate 40 years of running

Driffield Striders is inviting former members to help the club celebrate its 40th anniversary next month.

A dinner dance at Driffield Rugby Club on Saturday 20th May, is being held to recognise this milestone.

Originally formed in 1983 as a women’s fitness and jogging group, the club has evolved over the decades and now provides a range of activities. It organises races, has a walking section and for the past 18 years has organised children’s running and games sessions during spring and summer.

Some of the original members are still involved in the club, among them chairperson Gaye Eling.

She said: “A large number of people from the town and villages have been members in the past. They are an important part of our history and we’d like as many as possible to join us for this event.”

Tickets for the dinner dance cost £30. Anyone who would like to attend should contact Nicola Amidulla, either by email at nicolaamidulla@icloud.com or by calling into her office, Nicola Amidulla Mortgages Ltd, Market House, Exchange Street.
