Peacocks confirms opening date for its new Driffield store

Peacocks has confirmed it is opening a new branch in Driffield town centre.

The fashion retailer has been advertising on recruitment sites for vacancies for an assistant manager, sales assistant and store supervisors.

It says the jobs are a ‘fantastic opportunity’ and will be ‘based in our new store in Driffield.’

A spokesperson for the company has said it is opening a branch at 3-5 Market Place on Friday 7th July.

M&Co closed its Driffield shop in April but work to renovate the interior of the building has been ongoing in recent weeks.

Several weeks ago, national trade publications reported that Peacocks was looking to open new branches in more than 20 former M&Co stores around the UK.

Like M&Co, Peacocks sells women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and it currently has shops in Bridlington and Cottingham

Albert Frank Peacock founded the company in Warrington, Cheshire in 1884 as a true Victorian Penny Bazaar selling anything and everything.

The company continued to grow throughout the 20th century as it established itself as a value-for-money retailer.

From the mid 1990s, Peacocks experienced significant development and growth and a greater emphasis on fashion.
