UNDERDOGS GREAT DRIFFIELD AFC LOOKING TO CAUSE MAJOR UPSET AGAINST NORTH FERRIBY THIS EVENING

Great Driffield AFC manager Andrew Dixon has said his side cannot be dismissed despite entering tonight’s East Riding FA Senior Cup quarter final against North Ferriby as underdogs.

Dixon’s side head to The Dransfield Stadium this evening to take on the Northern Premier League Division One East side in the last eight of the competition.

Great Driffield have defeated Reckitts AFC and Hull United AFC to reach this stage but face their toughest test yet against Ferriby, who could include the likes of former Premier League player Adam Bolder and ex-Football League defender Danny East in their squad.

However, after preparing for tonight’s cup tie in excellent fashion with a 3-0 victory over Hornsea Town, Dixon hopes the luck falls in Great Driffield’s favour and his side can record a famous victory.

“We looked solid throughout on Saturday and it takes us into Tuesday’s game (against North Ferriby),” said Dixon.

“We’re not under any illusions that it’s going to be anything other than a really tough night. It’s one of those where we could play North Ferriby 100 times, and we might get a result in one of the games.

“But you never know what might happen. Ferriby could have a stinker and we might play out of our skins. They’re strong, strong favourites, but you can’t count us out.”

North Ferriby FC v Great Driffield takes place this evening at The Dransfield Stadium, 7:45pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. Under 12s can go along free of charge.
