BODY SHOP ENTERS ADMINISTRATION WITH THOUSANDS OF JOBS AND 200 STORES AT RISK

The Body Shop has entered administration, putting thousands of jobs and hundreds of shops at risk.

Administrators have been brought in to handle an insolvency process, weeks after new owners took control of the business.

There are around 200 Body Shop outlets across the UK, including in Beverley and Hull.

“Today, the Directors of The Body Shop International Limited have appointed Tony Wright, Geoff Rowley, and Alastair Massey of business advisory firm FRP as Joint Administrators of the company, which operates The Body Shop’s UK business,” said FRP Advisory in a statement.

“Taking this approach provides the stability, flexibility and security to find the best means of securing the future of The Body Shop and revitalizing this iconic British brand.

“The Joint Administrators will now consider all options to find a way forward for the business and will update creditors and employees in due course.”

The Body Shop is thought to have 2,568 employees in the UK.
