JOE ROOT OVERTAKES SIR ALASTAIR COOK TO BECOME ENGLAND’S LEADING TEST RUN-SCORER

Yorkshire’s Joe Root has become England’s leading Test match run-scorer after overtaking Sir Alastair Cook.

Root overhauled Cook’s 12,472 runs on day three of England’s Test against Pakistan in Multan. He had started the third morning of the match 38 runs behind Cook.

He is now the fifth highest run-scorer in Test match history, having scored 34 hundreds and a high score of 254.
