Bridlington man completes ‘The Wall’ ultra-marathon in aid of the RNLI

The marathon involves running 69 gruelling miles through the historic Hadrian’s Wall country, from Carlisle to Newcastle.
Mike, who finished 87th out of around 700 runners, said ‘The run was a hard going at first, as I set off too fast and had to slow it down after the first 10 miles. I took it nice and steady until the main stop at Hexham at 44miles, where I had a ½ hour stop to re-fuel and change my socks. It was a fight to start running again after this.
“With only 6 miles to go it got really hard as every part of my feet started to hurt, having to walk the last 2 miles. The text from my family kept me going to the finish. I now need to think of some new challenge for next year!”
