Twin-credible! Double the joy for Tim and Charlotte

It was double delight for the Taylor family when identical twin Tim and his wife Charlotte welcomed their own set of identical twin boys.

Teddy and George were born at 35 weeks and five days on 13th October – 30 years (and two weeks) after Tim and his identical twin brother Dan were born.

And the coincidences don’t stop there, because Charlotte’s due date of 12th November was the same date that Tim and Dan were due in 1992.

Tim, from Driffield, said he had joked he and Charlotte would have twin boys, but the day of the scan still proved to be quite a shock.

He said: “I had said I bet we have twin boys and when we fell pregnant, we went for an early scan at about six to seven weeks.

“At the scan, they told us the heartbeat was healthy, but then after a while they said wait a minute, there’s another heartbeat.”

Charlotte added: “Tim almost jumped out of his chair, but it was very emotional.”

The couple shared the news with their families who were delighted for them and Charlotte said she has found the advice from Tim’s mum extremely valuable throughout her pregnancy and now the boys have arrived.

“At first I didn’t really know anything about twins and I hadn’t realised that identical twins don’t run through families, so we must just be lucky,” she added.

After spending a short time in hospital, where George spent four days in the neonatal intensive care unit, the Taylors are now back at home and enjoying life as a family of four.

Tim said he is sure his boys will share the same special bond that he and his brother share.

“I think twins have always got a special bond,” he said.

“As a twin you know your sibling better than anyone.”

The number two continued to be lucky for Tim, who is captain of Great Driffield AFC, after he scored twice – one for each of his sons – in his first match back after their birth.

He said: “I wanted to score a goal for each of the boys last Saturday and I did,” he said.

“Both Dan and I play in the team and who knows maybe one day Teddy and George will be able to play too.”
