Sir Greg hits out at postal price hikes

Sir Greg Knight, the MP for East Yorkshire, is one of a number of MPs backing a parliamentary motion expressing concern over the proposed hike in the price of postage stamps.
From April, the cost of first-class stamps will be increased to £1.10, up 15p from 95p, while second-class stamps will increase to 75p, up 7p from 68p.
“In the middle of the cost-of-living crisis, this unwanted price hike of over 15 per cent for first class stamps will hit pensioners, low-income earners and those small businesses that rely on the post the hardest.” said Sir Greg.
“Pricing people out of the postal system is not a good way forward and it benefits no one in the long-term, least of all Royal Mail.
“This increase should be deferred.”
