Emergency closure for road between North Dalton and Huggate with immediate effect

An emergency road closure has been put in place for the main road between North Dalton and Huggate because of sudden damage to its surface.

The North Dalton Road, Huggate/Huggate Road in North Dalton has been temporarily closed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council with immediate effect.

The council says the road has been closed for the safety of those who use it while repairs are carried out. The council will start work on Monday 27th January, with the aim of reopening the road as soon as possible afterwards.

The official closure order is for three weeks, but the council said the road is expected to reopen before then.

A temporary diversion has been put in place, directing traffic via Driffield Road, Tibthorpe Road, Huggate Road, Main Street, Bainton Road and Bainton roundabout.

Access will be maintained for residents of the affected roads for the duration of the closure.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thanks to local residents and road users for bearing with us while we carry out these necessary repairs so we can make the road safe to open again.”
