All Aboard! Daytrippers prepare for ‘fantastic day out’

Excitement is building ahead of the annual Driffield Trip Day, which takes place tomorrow (Wednesday 14th August 2019)

The event, open to residents of Driffield and Little Driffield, sees bus loads of people travel to Bridlington to enjoy the sun, sea and sand.

East Yorkshire buses will depart Driffield School & Sixth Form between 8:30-9:45am, with no fare applied.

Youngsters will be handed £4 pocket money before boarding as well as a book of concessions for children’s rides and other attractions.

An added feature for this year will include a day pass to the amusement park next to Bridlington Spa priced £9.99.

The pass will allow unlimited access to rides which are normally around £2.50 each.

Jolyon Lawson, a member of the Driffield Trip Day organising committee, told the Wolds Weekly: “Driffield Trip Day is a highlight of the Driffield calendar.

“Weather dependent, we’re hoping for another good turn out having filled six or seven double decker buses in recent years.

“It’s a fantastic day out and one that is always thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

“There is no need to pre-book a place, simply turn up on the morning, collect your vouchers and board the bus.

“This year, we’ve been provided with a day pass to the amusements next to Bridlington Spa for just £9.99 each, which is great value and very generous of the park owner.

“The first bus leaves at 8:30am and the last one is at 9:45am, so we urge trippers to ensure they arrive on time.”

Jolyon also stressed that, since last year’s takeover of East Yorkshire Buses, trippers must return to Driffield on one of Driffield Trip Day’s chartered buses, rather than using the 121 service bus.

All children must be aged between three and 16, live in Driffield or Little Driffield and be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Adult return tickets can be purchased at a reduced rate.
