Tractor run organisers hoping for big turnout in memory of Jane

A charity tractor run held in memory of its former organiser and Yorkshire Air Ambulance volunteer and fundraiser Jane Robinson will take place this month.

The Burton Fleming and Wold Newton Charity Tractor Run will be held on Sunday 24th April, with organisers hoping for a bumper turn out.

Jane had organised the popular tractor run for around 15 years raising funds for both St Catherine’s Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance before she sadly passed away suddenly in August 2020.

As well as organising the run, which when last held in April 2019 attracted 88 tractors and raised more than £1,400 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Jane also volunteered and helped to raise thousands of pounds for the life-saving charity.

After an absence of two years, the tractor run will return this month organised by Jane’s daughter Rheanne Sleightholme and Jane’s sisters Marie Sheader and Sharon Robinson.

Rheanne said: “My mum was the most caring person anyone would know. She would help anyone.

“Because mum didn’t have a big send off due to COVID, we wanted to make sure everyone could give her the best possible send off.”

Sharon added: “We wanted to be able to hold the tractor run again this year in memory of Jane and in recognition of the work she did to raise funds and volunteer for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“We had hoped to hold a run last year, but it was unable to go ahead because of COVID.

“Jane was very well known and many people have expressed their wish to support the event, so we hope for a good turnout.”

As in previous years, tractors will gather in the field opposite Burton Fleming Village Hall from 9:30am before leaving at 10:30am.

The route is still to be finalised, however it will pass through numerous villages in the Wolds before finishing at the Anvil Arms in Wold Newton at 3:30pm, where the tractor drivers will receive complimentary refreshments on their return.

Rob Scott, YAA East Yorkshire Regional Fundraiser paid tribute to Jane.

He said: “Jane is hugely missed by everyone at Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“She was a huge support to the charity organising the tractor run and numerous fundraising events throughout the year, including the dialect evenings with Adam Collier.

“We hope people will come along on 24th April and support the tractor run in memory of Jane.”

Entry is £15 per tractor. For any enquiries, please contact Sharon on 07778 770788 or Mick Harper on 07967 810144.
