RAIL COMPANY NORTHERN OFFERS FREE TRAVEL FOR ARMED FORCES ON REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

Rail company Northern is offering complimentary travel across its entire network for service personnel travelling to Remembrance Sunday services.

Those wearing an armed forces uniform and carrying a military ID card, as well as cadets in uniform and veterans who display valid identification, such as the Ministry of Defence issued Veteran’s Badge, will be entitled to free travel on all Northern services on Sunday 12th November.

The hundreds of licensed poppy sellers, who have been volunteering in the lead up to this weekend, will also be able to take advantage of the offer.

Northern staff and communities are due to take part in remembrance events across network this week, with customers and colleagues from the rail industry joining Northern staff in paying tribute to those who have given their lives.

Northern staff and community groups will pay their own tributes to the armed forces with a Remembrance Service at the Railway Memorial, Station Rise in York to lay a wreath on Friday 10th November.
