Essential road improvements are to get underway in Burnby, near Pocklington, early in the new year. East Riding of Yorkshire Council will invest £300,000 in carrying out resurfacing work along Road Through Loaningdale, which is due to start on Monday 8th January 2024.

The scheme, east of Burnby between the junctions of Cleaving Garth Road and Londesborough Hill, is scheduled to take five weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The work will take place between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday. For the length of the scheme, during the daytime working hours only, a temporary road closure will be in place along Road Through Loaningdale.

A signed diversion route will be in place for road users via Cleaving Garth Road and Londesborough Hill, Londesborough.

The work will be carried out by the council’s road maintenance team.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We’d like to thank local residents and motorists in advance for bearing with us while we carry out improvements to this road.”
