Route timings: Farmer Christmas Tractor Run 2023

Final preparations are underway for this weekend’s Farmer Christmas Tractor Run which will see a record 150 decorated tractors light up the night sky as they make their way through a series of Wolds villages for a spectacular not to be missed.

Last year’s event raised an incredible £8,500 for both the KPFA and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), and this year promises to be even bigger and better.

The Farmer Christmas Tractor Run, organised by Kilham Playing Field Association (KPFA), will take place this Sunday (10th December).

Tractors will set off from Wilfred Scruton Ltd in Foxholes at 3.30pm before making their way along a new route which includes Wold Newton, Hunmanby, Burton Fleming, Rudston, Kilham, Langtoft and finishing on the field at Foxholes Community Hall.

The vehicles will all be decorated with Christmas lights and other festive decorations, with a prize given for the best dressed tractor.

There will be a chance to view the tractors and enjoy Christmas activities and refreshments before the tractors leave at Foxholes Community Hall from 1.30pm.

Santa will make a special visit in his tractor grotto, courtesy of The North Wolds Lions, and there will be hot drinks, mulled wine and a hog roast provided by the Bite into British team and Anna’s Happy Trotters. Yorkshire Air Ambulance merchandise will be available to buy on the day.

Spectators are encouraged to watch the tractors at the start and along the route as there will be no public access to the hall at the end.

With last year’s chain of tractors reaching four miles long, organisers are encouraging motorists to expect significant delays and to check ahead before they set off on their journeys.

There will be a tracker in the lead vehicle for up-to-date information about the progress of the tractors on the evening which will be available on the Farmer Christmas Tractor Run Facebook page.

KPFA requests that anyone watching along the route park on adjacent streets to keep the route as clear as possible.

Nicola Knaggs, secretary of the KPFA, said: “This year we increased the number of entries to 150 and we are delighted that we have sold out.

“The support has been incredible from the tractor drivers, our sponsors and all of our volunteers.

“We have changed the route this year to include Hunmanby to reach more people and we would love people to come and join us for a joyful festive treat for the family and show their appreciation by donating to a truly essential rural service.

“We have more than 100 volunteers marshalling and collecting, and we also have an online donation page, and all of our volunteers will have the QR code so that people can scan it and donate online if they prefer. Every penny donated on the route goes to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“We are so grateful to our huge army of volunteers because we wouldn’t be able to put this on without their support and we hope they find it rewarding making a real difference to their local community.

“The Farmer Christmas Tractor Run gives a real feel-good factor and it is a joy to be a part of.

“The farmers make a massive effort in decorating their vehicles and putting on a show and it is a brilliant experience to see it going past.

“It really sets you up for Christmas.”

The organisers added their thanks to sponsors Wilfred Scruton Ltd, Grimme, AMK Fuel Services Ltd, Boarcross Ltd, Pockmor, Cherrys Country Hardware and Great Driffield Radio.
