BRIDLINGTON KITE FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

Some of the world’s largest inflatable kites will take to the skies above the cliffs of the East Yorkshire coast for the annual Bridlington Kite Festival this weekend.

Taking place this Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May, kites of all descriptions, sizes and colours will take to the air for two days of aerial displays over Sewerby Fields.

There will be professional demonstrations and visitors can get involved, with kites available for loan during supervised sessions.

Organised by the Visit East Yorkshire Events Team, the festival is one of several major events across East Yorkshire each year.

The event is held in partnership with The Northern Kite Group, which formed in 1978, and has members across the country.

The festival will run from 10am-5pm both days and is free to attend. Visitors can arrive in style on the land train which runs between Sewerby Hall & Gardens and East Riding Leisure Bridlington every half an hour.

Creativity Week at East Riding Libraries

Monday 20th to Sunday 26th May is Creativity Week, and East Riding Libraries are encouraging you to get creative! There is a series of fun events going on, so why not get stuck in and see what you can do this week:

Green Fingers

Green Fingers is a BLOOMING marvellous musical comedy for 3-10 year olds, about a boy born with gunky green hands.

But is he rotten, or just misunderstood? Perhaps the answers can be found in the mysterious school garden…

Nominated for a ‘BBC Popcorn New Writing Award’, this Dahl-esque treat from Fladam (Flo Poskitt and Adam Sowter) is packed full of catchy songs, puppetry and plenty of humour.

Exploring themes of difference and understanding, as well as encouraging kids to get out into the garden, Green Fingers teaches us all its ok to be a little green.

Tickets are £3 per child with one free accompanying adult per child.

Blend modern design with the traditional knotting technique of macrame to design and create your own macrame keyring at our workshop.

It’s a hands-on session where you’ll discover how simple knots can build a beautiful item. To book your place, please call 01262 850085 or book in branch.

Free colouring in activities

All library branches will have colouring sheets to get involved with, whether that be one big communal colouring in sheet, or some smaller ones you can take home and colour in yourself, or both, there’s something for everyone.
