Tulip Siddiq has resigned as Treasury minister

Tulip Siddiq has resigned as Treasury minister after allegations about properties linked to her aunt, the former Bangladeshi prime minister.
Ms Siddiq said in a letter to the prime minister that whilst she had ‘not breached the ministerial code’, continuing in her role would be ‘a distraction from the work of the government’.
The Labour MP referred herself to the prime minister’s ethics watchdog due to the allegations regarding properties linked to her aunt, Sheikh Hasina’s political movement.
The allegations suggest Ms Siddiq lived in properties that were linked to the ousted former Bangladeshi prime minister.
There have been calls from the Conservatives for Ms Siddiq to resign and for Sir Keir Starmer to sack her.
