Government confirms Grenfell Tower will be demolished

The government has confirmed that Grenfell Tower is to be demolished. Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner met with campaigners to announce the news of Wednesday evening, leading to an angry reaction.
Grenfell United has accused Ms Rayner of ignoring the voices of those who lost family members in the fire at the tower, which killed 72 people in 2017.
It was Britain’s deadliest fire since World War Two. Engineers said the tower remains stable and is safe for people to live, work and study nearby.
However, its condition will deteriorate and it will not be brought back into use. It’s expected the tower will take two years to be dismantled.
