Christmas is coming…and the Scouts’ post service is back for 2022

The Driffield Area Scouts’ Christmas post service, a long-held tradition in the Wolds, is running again, starting in November.

Covering Driffield and many of its surrounding villages, the delivery service, which has been a fixture of the festive season for over 30 years, is a true community effort and involves over 80 volunteers who sort and deliver in conjunction with the Scouts themselves.

Support is provided by local businesses and organisations which provide collection points for the cards.

There will be 15 drop-off points for cards in Driffield and various villages from Friday 2nd to Saturday 17th December, with a minimum donation of 30p requested for each card.

All proceeds raised from the postal service help to provide recreation and personal development opportunities for more than 200 local youngsters in the Driffield, Cranswick and Nafferton Scout Groups, together with the Moot Hill Explorers.

After Phil Rounce, who had been involved with the Scouts Christmas post for several years, decided to step down in 2021, Stephen Lane has taken the helm in overseeing the deliveries.

As well as Driffield, deliveries are made to Bainton, Beswick, Burton Agnes, Cranswick, Foston-on-the-Wolds, Garton-on-the-Wolds, Hutton, Kilham, Kirkburn, Langtoft, Little Driffield, Middleton-on-the-Wolds, Nafferton, North Dalton, North Frodingham, Rudston, Ruston Parva, Skerne, Sledmere, Southburn, Sunderlandwick, Tibthorpe, Wansford, Watton and Wetwang.
