HULL MAN PROSECUTED FOR LECONFIELD FLY-TIPPING
A man from Hull has been prosecuted for fly-tipping vehicle documents on the roadside in Leconfield.
Rafal Kubat of Faircourt, dumped cardboard and a carrier bag of waste containing a wallet of vehicle records on a verge in Old Road.
Kubat pleaded guilty to illegally disposing of waste when he appeared at Beverley Magistrates’ Court on 11th September.
He was fined £200 and was ordered to pay £406 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
The court heard fly-tipping on Old Road was reported to East Riding of Yorkshire Council and its streetscene enforcement officers visited the site on 22nd March last year.
The officers found cardboard and a carrier bag of waste containing a wallet of vehicle documents, which were linked to a vehicle which was driven by Kubat on the day of the offence.
Despite the council sending letters to Kubat, no response was received, so the case was taken to court.
Residents are responsible for disposing of their own waste properly and legally by using household wheelie bins provided or by taking larger items of waste to their local household waste recycling site.
Carl Skelton, director of streetscene services at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Thanks to the public for continuing to let us know about incidents. We investigate all fly-tipping reported to us and always take action when we can.”
Anyone caught fly-tipping in the East Riding could be ordered to pay a fixed penalty of up to £1,000 or the case could be taken to court, where they face an unlimited fine or even imprisonment.
