11 year-old Emily Duke, who suffers from the disease that destroys blood vessels by inflammation, invited 22 of her classmates into her garden on Cherry Way, Nafferton, where they then built their own den made from boxes that had been kindly donated by Tonks Removals.
Emily’s Mum, Claire, said it was a great event: “Emily has suffered from vasculitis from the age of eight and she really wanted to do something to raise awareness as it’s quite a rare disease so people don’t know a lot about it.
“Emily took letters into school inviting her fellow classmates and it was quite overwhelming when they all replied and said they would attend,” said Claire.
“There were 22 boys and girls who came and they were all very good. Tonks Removals donated boxes so that they could make a den and after they had designed them, the boxes looked fantastic.
“We placed a tarpaulin over the top as the forecast was for it to rain in the evening, but in the end the sun came out.”
Following numerous donations, including one from Tonks Removals, the current fundraising total stands at £652 and Emily hopes to further increase that by holding a cake stall during the forthcoming Nafferton Scarecrow Festival.
