High value jewellery stolen in raid on village bungalow

With just a 40 minute window, when the property was left unoccupied last Friday (16th September, 2016), the patio doors at the back of the property were forced open and an untidy search made in all rooms.
The stolen jewellery, which is believed to be worth thousands of pounds included; 18ct gold bracelets, solid gold bangles, sold gold chokers and chains, a gold and solitaire diamond engagement ring, three commemorative coins, diamond platinum rings, gold Tissot watches, antique gold and yellow diamond engagement rings. Bank cards and cash was also taken.
Some of the jewellery belonged to the couple’s late parents and held extremely sentimental value.
The homeowner, David Latus (78), said; “My wife and I are enormously upset with the break-in. It is very unusual to have both of us out of the house at the same time, however last Friday between 11am and 11.40am we were both out, leaving only a 40 minute window of opportunity to enter our bungalow.
One of the most upsetting items of jewellery is the engagement ring I gave my wife 60 years ago and my late mother’s engagement ring and her gold watch.
When someone breaks into your house, for a long while after you naturally feel unsettled in your home and I must say, my wife is feeling worried at the moment.
“Out of all the pieces of jewellery, I would love to reunite my wife with her beloved engagement ring.”
